Ted McCarty is among the large names from the guitar manufacturing industry. He was the leader of Gibson Guitar Corporation from 1950 to 1966. After he quit Gibson, he went on to become the leader of Bigsby, which is another guitar manufacturing company. Paul Reed Smith discovered about Ted McCarty after going to the U.S. Patent Office within the 1980′s. He always saw Ted McCarty’s title around the Gibson patents. For this reason he made the decision to employ Ted McCarty like a consultant. Paul Reed Smith was attributed as stating that it was probably the most determining move of his company. He stated that he learned many useful stuff from McCarty as a result, he gave tribute to McCarty and released the McCarty model in 1994, which was a large recognition given that no guitar or company ever had the label of Ted McCarty.
